Having received the Palmetto Gold and Silver Award for the past four years, Cope Area Career Center continues to enjoy an atmosphere of excellence. The Career and Technology Education classes offered at the Center prepare students for post secondary education, the work force, or college. Students have opportunities to excel in a positive and caring atmosphere. While the teachers at the Center have updated the curriculum to reflect higher expectations and alignment for dual enrollment, we still have many challenges before us. This year the completers in automotive technology, health science, welding, and building construction will participate in an end-of-program exam. The results of the end-of-program exam will count as 50% of the Center's report card. Placement and graduation rate will make up the other 50% of the report card. While it is expected of us to do more with less, it is our intention to continue an atmosphere of excellence as the accountability rises. We are also proud of our Positive Behavioral Intervention Systems (PBIS) program at the Center where the focus is placed on positive behavior. The data shows that the PBIS program has is credited with record low number of discipline referrals and suspensions. Thank you for allowing us to serve the children of Orangeburg Consolidated School District Four, Bamberg School District 1, and Bamberg School District 2. Sincerely, Sandra Jameson, Principal
